THE BIG PICTURE

MEMBERSHIP IN THE 15TH INFANTRY REGIMENT ASSOCIATION ALLOWS TROOPERS TO MAINTAIN THAT SPECIAL BOND AMONG WARRIORS THAT HAS BEEN DEVELOPED WHILE ON ACTIVE DUTY, IN PEACE AND IN WAR.  HISTORY TELLS US THAT, AS THE YEARS PASS, THESE RELATIONSHIPS BECOME EVEN MORE IMPORTANT, ESPECIALLY AMONG VETERANS WHO HAVE SHARED THE RIGORS OF COMBAT.

Did You Know?
There were Six Civil War Union officers whose military record helped them to become President of the United States of America: Brig.-Gen., USV, Andrew Johnson, General Grant, Bvt. General Hays, Maj.-Gen. Garfield, Bvt.-Gen. Harrison and Brevet Major McKinley.

Presidental Medal
of Freedom Award

  It is my desire to see Audie Murphy presented posthumously with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, for his dedication to America's freedom and his lifelong devotion to country. I have prepared an online Petition to President Obama requesting that Audie Murphy be posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The Petition can be found by clicking on button.

When: 12-14 May 2010 (Wed-Fri)

Where: The 3rd Battalion has blocked rooms at the Marriott Riverfront in Savannah, Georgia, as well as some rooms at Army Lodging on Fort Stewart. A bus will run to and from Fort Stewart for daily activities. REGISTRATION FORM:  pdf  Format Savannah Marriott Riverfront

bus to post at 0900; tour BN area; meet Soldiers;

Company live fire demonstration; business meeting
Friday - Golf Scramble and Ball that night with the entire BN's Soldiers and Spouses

Battalion Points of contact are: 2LT John Hurd (CHINA 1 and Ball POC, phone # 912 767-5547), 1LT Erik O'hearn (CHINA 2) and 2LT Jadrian Jackson (CHINA 2A and overall action officer for the Rendezvous) and the battalion executive officer, Major Melendez, phone # 912 767-2791).

Coordination is still ongoing, so we do not have the costs for the Ball or the golf outing at the time of publication.

The battalion leadership is very excited to be hosting the Rendezvous and is confident it will be a world class event. This is the association’s first real chance to meet the newest China Hands and likely the last for awhile as the battalion will be deploying this year.

 3rd INFANTRY DIVISION REUNION ~  WASHINGTON, DC 2010

 This notice serves as a "warning order" to all members, friends, and family of the 15th Infantry Regiment that we will once again be assembling for a 15th Infantry Regimental Dinner, Friday 17 September 2010, in conjunction with the Society of the 3rd Infantry Division Annual Reunion in Washington DC, 15-19 September 2010. The Reunion will be a tremendous opportunity to visit our Nation's Capitol and see firsthand the magnificent monuments to veterans of WWII. Korea, and Vietnam. The 15th Infantry Regimental Dinner will feature a magnificent lineup of senior Army leaders and first class entertainment. Details will follow soonest in both "The Dragon" and the "Watch on the Rhine". The 2010 Reunion Committee is comprised of Outpost Europe President Monica Stoy, LTC Tim Stoy, COL Cath Bacon, Marge Hergenreder, Ray Hergenreder, and OP #7 President, Dave Adams. Mark your calendars for this wonderful event!

Chicamauga Battlefield
Friday 29 Jan 2010, the Rear D Cmdr, CPT Lerch, took several soldiers with Color Guard to Chicamauga Battlefield for a tour and place a wreath at the 15th Infantry Regiment monument.  Several 15th Infantry Regiment Association members  were in attendance for the memorial services and wreath laying ceremony.

 

 

 

 

The Campaign for Chattanooga
In 1863, Union and Confederate forces fought for control of Chattanooga, the gateway to the deep south. The Confederate’s were victorious at nearby Chickamauga in September, but renewed fighting in Chattanooga in November gave Union troops final control.
